Email

Got myself a bunch of lovely emails covering all aspects of the show. It seems everyone is keen and more than happy to have a show dedicated to a particular book, which has really pleased me. I honestly thought the majority of people would be against having such a show as it would spoil the book for them but all have stated that in their lifestyles at the moment, they might not have the time to read particular books. So, I guess this is the next best thing - leave it to me, in telling you what the ending is!

Got myself a lovely email from a gentleman called Michael McDonald from Japan. Michael brought my attention to a writer I had not heard about:

Mr. Matthew Hughes has recently had the book ‘The Gist Hunter & Other Stories’ published.  I am familiar with his work from the short stories in Fantasy and Science Fiction, which were wonderful.  He is truly a literary craftsman, and writes in a style very like that of Charles Dickens.  The main character of his ‘Gist Hunter’ stories, Henghis Hapthorne, is somewhat like a futuristic version of Sherlock Holmes (with magical elements thrown in for good measure).  The stories are largely science fiction based, but with elements of magic and the supernatural included.  Every time I read a story by him, I make a mental note to send off a note to you guys, and now I have.

I have been in touch with Matt Hughes and he has kindly allowed the SOFA to narrate two of his short stories - so look out for those in the coming weeks. They sound excellent tales.
