The reviews of Cowboys and Aliens were so bad and Spielberg has so gone off the rails that I didn’t even try to see this in the theater. A pity – it was kind of fun in a stereotyped (or is that archetypal?) sort of way. I enjoyed it. Other opinions?

Well, silly me. I rather loved the film. Liked the graphic novel too, but maybe liked the movie more. As said: Silly me. I got no taste.

The script was a typical Hollywood wank-fest. Seven writers, including Steve Oedekirk, and others–none of whom include the authors of the graphic novel. Still, I thought Jon Favreau did a decent job directing. I don’t quite know what Judy has against Steven Spielberg’s participation in this. He’s principally, a front man, along with Ron Howard, for 15 other producers, executive producers and co-producers who did the heavy lifting on the effort.

…no Joan Vinge. She did the novilization after-the-cinematic-fact.

The guy at the top is where the buck stops. :)

Interesting about the lawsuit.
