Just started a comic blog over at http://deesaturate.blogspot.com/ about the comics I’m reading, and working on, and the great bunch of people I meet. Please follow me if you can – I’m so lonely!

Dee..what exactly is flatting?

Flatting is the stage between inking and rendering in comics. I basically cut out the areas with colour for the colourist to render over. Its a fairly menial task – but I love it!

Cutting: do you mean with paper and scissors, or is that a digital process?

It’s all done with pixels Fredosphere! Although it used to be actually cut out of rubylith and overlayed during printing – so I guess that’s we hold onto the ‘cutting’ term.
