I stumbled on this website and thought some of you might be interested.

IT isn’t a very complete list but is interesting. They left out a lot of muslim sci-fi writers (Doris Lessing for one).

Interesting list, although I’m not sure if feminism can really be described as a religious affiliation (see Ursula Le Guin listing), although it is a world view.

Feminists got really mad at Doris Lessing — she wasn’t strident enough in the “cause”. I always liked Doris for taking them on head-on.

She did that to people wanting to describe her writing as something other than science fiction. She said firmly, I’m a writer of science fiction.

Which reminds me – John Lloyd spoke at Ted Talks recently. He’s behind most of the good comedy shows at the Beeb and collaborated with Douglas Adams on “The Meaning of Liff”. Considered the Cardinal of Comedy if John Cleese is Pope. The link to the clip is

He makes interesting comments about Sufis all being telepaths. Was Doris a telepath? Was PKD a sufi?

They should add John C. Wright to the list, since he’s had an unusual spiritual odyssey and because his blog (which I can recommend) focuses on SF, religion, and the intersection of the two.

Strange though it may seem, Lovecraft actually worshipped a cute little chipmunk god, with cheeks so chubby you just had to pinch ‘em! He also wore buttercups in his hair when no one was looking.

Buttercups. Now that brings back memories. Like red winged black birds and fireflies they are all part of the never more where I live.

Let’s not forget the infamous L.Ron Hubbard, the sf writer who started his own religion.
