I’d like to hear the opinions of those who have read Space Vulture.  Since the book was released in hardback only a few months ago, that might not be too many people…so I’d also like to hear from those who have an opinion of what the book represents:  an attempt to recreate the raw energy of the pulpy, low-brow space operas of 40-60 years ago.

For more background, see the book’s official website.  It has an excerpt from the 1st chapter, plus a description of Space Hawk, the first SF book the authors ever read.

My own detailed reactions to Space Vulture can be found with the reviews on the SSS home page.

I’ll take the deafening silence in response to this thread as a sign no one has read (or even has much interest in) this book, and not a sign that I have serious hygiene issues.

Not read it, I only heard of it last week. It seems to have mixed reviews, it sounds like the sort of pulpy crap I used to enjoy so if I see it I’ll read it.

Not too sure about hygene issues, its all a matter of standards, if you can deal with some of the smelly old paperbacks from 40-60 years ago you can’t really be too picky.

Since I’m just getting involved in the forum, I’m late with this…but I’ve read SPACE VULTURE and had a damn good time with it. Of course, I’ve always enjoyed the old pulps, plus the old Buster Crabbe serials about Flash Gordon, and I got a kick out of this 21st century retro novel. Not that I necessarily want to see a lot more of these. There’s plenty of the old, old stuff from the 1930s and 1940s to go back to if I’m in the mood.
