Allie: I saw Twilight with my wife after enduring the barrage of snarky criticism that show received on many of the SF blogs. I was, frankly, shocked at how enjoyable it was.I’m glad you liked it but I was disappointed in the movie. First, they went for the action not the love story, and they didn’t do a good job with Edward.
Edward should have been a character that appealed, not just to the girls, but to the guys. He’s a superhero with superpowers who’s almost as much a goody two shoes as Superman, though not quite because he went through a phase where he was feeding on murderers and rapists and since he can read minds he knew who they were and what they had done or were about to do. Edward was depressed because he had spent 80 years alone, watching his vampire family, one at a time, fall in love and form bonds that made them happy while he became more and more alienated, even from them. Then he falls for this.. well, he doesn’t really fall for Bella. He’s starving and she smells like a steak dinner and he has to use all his strength not to feed on her, not to kill anyone that gets in his way. That’s an interesting story. Edward could have been an fascinating character but I think he was miscast. Rob Pattinson just didn’t get him. In interviews he’s said some very bad things about the character and about the books. And he can’t really act. There are plenty gay actors who can convincingly portray heterosexual passion and love. Pattinson isn’t one of them. So despite Kristin (Bella) Stewart’s talent, the movie fell flat for me whenever Pattinson was on screen.
The Twilight movie made money because of the popularity of the books, not because it was good. There’s a different director for the next movie, a male director, Chris Weitz. We’ll see if that makes it better or worse.

E book review as previously promised. Not very good I know, but better than nothing.Let me ask you some questions about this reader?
Is there any flicker at all? Do your eyes get tired while you are reading?
How large can you make the font?
Can you make the background dark or black and the print white or gray?
Thanks,

I think the forum is broken. Or unbroken. I tried to put in that reply repeatedly and it would not show up. I think it’s fixed now and all the ones that wouldn’t display before finally did.
I’ve reported it on Repair Bay.
This is another reason I wish we could modify or delete posts indefinitely!
