Main Fiction: “No Place For a Hero”, by James Aquilone

Originally published at Galaxy’s Edge

James Aquilone is an editor and writer, for fun and for profit, from Staten Island, New York.
His love of science fiction and reading began with the comic books he persuaded his mother to buy during trips to the corner newsstand.
“No Place for a Hero” was inspired by his own (so far unsuccessful) attempts to be a superhero.
His fiction is forthcoming or has appeared in Nature’s Futures, Galaxy’s Edge, Flash Fiction Online, and Weird Tales Magazine, among many other publications.
Narrator: Jen Watson

Jen Watson holds an MFA in Theatre Performance & Pedagogy from Texas Tech University, and a BA in English from Howard Payne University. She has been an actor/performer since her first kindergarten production over 30 years ago. From her home near Houston, Texas, she is now living her dream as an audiobook narrator on ACX.com and can be found at https://www.acx.com/narrator?p=A4KINJYDOCK8N and www.jenwatson.net. She is thankful for the opportunity to narrate for StarShipSofa.

Jen and her husband of almost 13 years, Duane (an avid StarShipSofa fan), enjoy all things sci-fi and British, especially Doctor Who. She is patiently waiting for The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) to arrive in the TARDIS on her doorstep (the hubby can come too…maybe). Their four fuzzy babies, cats Kaida, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, and Mak, uphold their reputation as the married crazy cat lady and cat man.

Comments

  1. Well, this was my first time listening; that was really quite funny! Have you heard of Samurai Flamenco by any chance? It’s a little bit like the story in the podcast, but it follows a guy who really wants to be a Power Ranger.

  2. It was a very fun story to narrate! I hope I did the characters justice!
