Ready Player One

So I’m reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. If you have not read this then ask as politely as possible – pick this up! Thing is… its now got me on a run for this type of story – I already have waiting in the wings ReadMe by Neal Stephenson… but what is also out there in that same style? And why is it that this old trope of cyber worlds is still so exciting? I really thought I’d moved on from the cyberpunk thing – all the hacking, dropping into electronic worlds – I thought I had moved away from it but as soon as I started reading Ready Player… I, like its protagonist – was in my own virtual world. So, what is it about these type of books that make them so alluring – or is it just me?

  1. Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson and of course Neuromancer by William Gibson are a couple of my favorites in this area.

  2. Still love Trouble and Her Friends by Pat Cadigan.
